About Atorvastatin
Description
Atorvastatin is a statin medication that lowers cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood by decreasing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver and increasing the removal of bad cholesterol from the blood.
Common Uses
High cholesterol, mixed dyslipidemia, reduction of heart attack and stroke risk in patients with cardiovascular disease or risk factors
Possible Side Effects
Stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, muscle or joint pain, diarrhea, upset stomach, nausea, muscle pain or weakness (rare but serious: rhabdomyolysis, liver problems)
