About Eliquis
Description
Eliquis (apixaban) is a prescription anticoagulant (blood thinner) that prevents and treats blood clots by blocking factor Xa. It is used to reduce stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation and to treat blood clots in the legs and lungs.
Common Uses
Atrial fibrillation stroke risk reduction, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) treatment and prevention, pulmonary embolism (PE) treatment and prevention, post-surgical blood clot prevention
Possible Side Effects
Bleeding (most common), minor bleeding/bruising, anemia, nausea, severe allergic reactions, serious bleeding requiring transfusion or surgery
