About Pantoprazole
Description
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid production by blocking the enzyme in the stomach wall that produces acid. It is used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid.
Common Uses
GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), erosive esophagitis, stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, Barrett's esophagus
Possible Side Effects
Headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, gas, dizziness, rash, muscle pain or cramps, low magnesium levels, vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use
